The team recorded neural signals coming from monarch butterfly's

WASHINGTON, April 16 (Xinhua) -- U.S. scientists have found a way to explain the secret of one of nature's most famous journey, the great migration of monarch butterflies from southeast Canada to Mexico year after year.

In a study published in the journal Cell Reports on Friday, scientists from the University of Washington, Massachusetts and Michigan announced that they have modeled the neural control mechanisms in the butterfly's brain, solving the mystery of how monarch butterflies are able to navigate through vast distance during their annual migration.

Leading researcher Professor Eli Shlizerman, from the University of Washington, said that as a mathematician, he wanted to understand how the creature processes different types of information during their long-distance migration, and what people can learn from such systems.

Monarch butterflies watch the sun, but that's not enough to lead them where they need to go. They also need the time of day, the study said. They have a kind of internal clock that keeps track of the daily go-round.

The team recorded neural signals coming from monarch butterfly's antenna nerves to keep the track of the clock information, as well as the information from the insect's eyes to account for sun position.

Then they used that data to build a model circuit to show the neural control mechanisms for the "clock" and "sun position" that help the butterfly point itself southwest.

Each Autumn, millions of monarch butterflies travel over 4000 km from southeast Canada and the United States to escape from the cold and hibernate in Mexico. They usually rest in six Mexican sanctuaries in the central and western part of the Latin American country.

After flushing, the “black water” doesn’t head through the sewage lines towards the closest “wet wells”. Instead it is taken to a black water filtering system (BWFS) which is located at the base of your building, where it is first “de-watered” Kids Rasul Douglas Jersey , which means separating the organic matter from the water. The former is sent for vermi-composting and turns into safe fertilizer in an year or so, while the latter is filtered, treated, and stored.

Then you brush. The “grey water” that is produced while gargling and washing your mouth goes to a grey water filtering system (GWFS) at the base of the building Kids Sidney Jones Jersey , where it is filtered and stored.

Then you have a sumptuous, healthy breakfast and head for the shower. The water heater in the bathroom allows you to select the exact temperature of the water that you want. If you change it while having bath, the heater responds instantly. Its energy consumption is only 20% that of today’s heaters even when you select the highest temperature which gives you steaming hot water! As you lower the desired water temperature, its energy consumption also goes down Kids Derek Barnett Jersey , and is next to nothing for lukewarm water whose temperature is close to our body temperature.

As you get ready to leave for work, your wife packs your lunch bag. If you are a woman and wondering, “Are women going to pack lunch-bags for their husbands even in 2055?” I would say, “If you don’t like that thought Womens Carson Wentz Jersey , you are free to substitute it with one that suits your imagination! smile I am not a male chauvinist and my focus isn’t really on propagating any stereotypes. The vegetables in the lunchbox are grown on the terrace outside every flat and on top of the building. They are cooked on steam-based cookers using steam that is generated by a concentrated solar thermal (CST) steam generator installed on the roof of the building.

The stored energy will be used to power the motor that moves elevator.

You get to your parking spot and get into your car. It’s an electric vehicle (EV) of course Womens Jordan Hicks Jersey , whose batteries have been charged during the night from the power outlet in your parking spot.
